아니 난 이걸 왜 프랑스 영화라고 생각했지? 우리 성우 더빙으로 봤을 텐데. 

결혼하고 싶은 마음이 드는 남자는 아내가 필요 없는 남자. 가브리엘의 오보에.

정말 논란 많아 괴로운 작품이긴 하지만. 아직 크게 이슈화되기 전 어릴 때 TV에서 처음 볼 때부터 심경이 복잡했으니 참 똑똑. 너무 힘들었지만 파토스만으로서는 순수한 고통으로 극상의 아름다움. 그땐 죄인 로드리고를 통해 성장을 겪었기에 그 캐릭터가 더 오래 남았었지.

무협 영화 팬으로서 21세기에 말라 가고 있던 중 서극의 칠검(七劍, 2005) 이후 오랜만에 감탄한 안무/연기. 배우가 스턴트 이상이라 믿고 착실히 따라가 주는 카메라.(새로운 카메라 워킹에 혼신을 다했던 칠검과 대조적으로 고전적인 풍이다. 눈을 믿기 힘든 넘치는 롱 테이크.) 뮤턴트는 안 좋아하지만(뮤턴트 할 거면 피는 좀 없애 주던지... 애초에 판타지 망가풍과 비장한 사극풍을 오락가락하지만 퓨전이 잘 됨.), 사무라이물 치고는 드물게 역사관이 양호. 여주들도 자기수양/충절형이라 대만족. 소년물 원작답게 애정/우정 관계가 건강해서 반가움. 비틀림 없이 정직, 온유하고 무엇이든 상의하고 합심하는 관계.
